Held at night and in the heat, almost a month later than usual, the Bahrain Grand Prix saw a race marked by the deployment of the safety car, which had not been seen on track since the Australian Grand Prix that opened the season. Several penalties were imposed during this Grand Prix, including a five-second penalty for Lando Norris, who was placed too far forward on the starting grid. Liam Lawson received two ten-second penalties for avoidable contact, while Nico Hulkenberg was simply disqualified, the skates of his Sauber having suffered too much wear.
