There are seasons that will be remembered and written in history books forever. If this should indeed be part of it, with the climax, a fiery duel between Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Max Verstappen (Red Bull); Toto wolff has understood that to keep its precious sesame, it will certainly be necessary to move up a gear at the end of the season. As the Turkish Grand Prix fast approaches, the Austrian warns: his team will not do any favors to its competitors (read Red Bull), and will even be ready to take more risks than usual.

Hamilton vs Verstappen, Act XVI

Building on his hundredth victory in Formula 1 in Sochi two weeks ago, Lewis Hamilton is once again heading towards a circuit that he masters and loves. If we still doubted it, the Briton reminded us last year by winning in the pouring rain, for the return of F1 at Istanbul Park after nine years of absence. Undisputed leader of the championship at the time, the seven-time world champion arrived this time in Turkey, with only two small points ahead of a spinning Verstappen.

A factor that Toto Wolff keeps in mind: “This season has us all on our toes and that is something we are enjoying immensely, but it also means we have to be aggressive in our approach to the end of the season, in order to maximize the points available,” he announces in a press release published by Mercedes.

“This is our goal for Turkey and beyond. I know that Lewis, Valtteri and the whole team are motivated for the battle ahead, and we are ready for another exciting race this weekend at Istanbul Park, where there are still a lot of unknowns for us in due to the track surface and weather conditions in 2020.”

“It’s an exciting and race-friendly track, so I think we’ll be in for another spectacular twist in this brilliant F1 season.”

According to data from Météo France (official partner of Formula 1), rain could appear again this weekend and ignite a Grand Prix which will take place in any case, under high tension.
