Like Honda and Mercedes, Renault confirmed the introduction of a new phase of its engine for the resumption of the world championship of Formula 1 at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
Daniel Ricciardo et Nico Hulkenberg will both benefit from the development but will have to suffer the consequences, namely a drop of 5 positions on the grid.
Renault claims that this “Spec C” from the workshops of Viruses-Châtillon (Essonne) brings small gains in performance and reliability.
As required by the regulations, the new Renault engine is also made available to its customer team. McLaren.
UPDATED
We will be using a new ICE on both cars today. It's a spec C, with minor upgrades to reliability and performance. Introducing it here will incur a 5-place penalty for both drivers for Sunday's race.#RSspirit #BelgianGP- Renault F1 Team (@ RenaultF1Team) August 30
