New engines and double penalty for Renault at Spa

Like Honda and Mercedes, Renault confirmed the introduction of a new phase of its engine for the resumption of the world championship of Formula 1 at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.

Daniel Ricciardo et Nico Hulkenberg will both benefit from the development but will have to suffer the consequences, namely a drop of 5 positions on the grid.

Renault claims that this “Spec C” from the workshops of Viruses-Châtillon (Essonne) brings small gains in performance and reliability.

As required by the regulations, the new Renault engine is also made available to its customer team. McLaren
