New technical structure at Aston Martin

A week after announcing the recruitment of Luca Furbatto as director of engineering, Aston Martin has clarified the contours of its new technical organization.

Promoted to the position of “ Chief Technical Officer », a role similar to that of Adrian Newey at Red Bull or a James Allison on the side of Mercedes, Andrew Green will oversee three major departments: performance, engineering, and technical management. 

Tom McCullough, loyal to the house who already supervises track operations, is named performance director. It will manage aerodynamic performance, that of the vehicle, as well as that of the computer and simulation tools.

Engineering was therefore entrusted to Furbatto, poached from Alfa Romeo. The Italian will be involved in both track operations and the factory where he will supervise R&D and the reliability department. 

The future technical director, whose identity will be revealed later, will be in charge of aerodynamic development, the design of the car, as well as short and medium term strategy. 

Otmar Szafnauer hopes that this restructuring “ will strengthen the technical capabilities of our operations " inspiring of " stables that gain in F1 currently ". With the ambition to join them as quickly as possible.
