Nyck de Vries will again pilot a Formula 1. The Dutchman, Formula E world champion, will replace Lewis Hamilton driving the Mercedes W13 during the first free practice session for the French Grand Prix, this weekend at Le Castellet (14 – 15 p.m.). The Dutchman, reserve driver for Mercedes and also for Toyota en WEC, had already participated in a free practice session this season in F1, it was with Alexander Albon's Williams FW44 during the Spanish Grand Prix, in Barcelona (May 20-22). This time, Nyck de Vries should perform a little better with Brackley's Silver Arrow.
« Nyck replaces Lewis for the first session of the weekend, as part of the sessions dedicated to young drivers this year, says Toto wolff, executive director of Mercedes F1 Team. So, we can't wait to see how he does. » This season, each starting driver must give up his place to a young driver during a free practice session this season. Alexander albon (Williams, with Nyck de Vries) and Sergio Pérez (Red Bull, with Jüri Vips) have already complied with this obligation.
