How did Ocon and Bearman get back into the points in Bahrain?

Saturday night was anything but a happy time for Haas. Last on the grid, Oliver Bearman saw Esteban Ocon crash his car early in Q2, ultimately starting 14th. Fortunate and staunch defenders, the two drivers held on to earn their team five valuable points on Sunday.

37 points behind the leading quartet in the constructors' championship, Haas now has 20 points after four Grand Prix weekends. For the Englishman, the comeback operation began with an excellent start from the back of the grid. Completing his first lap in 15th position, the last-starter beat the two Sauber drivers, the two Racing Bulls, and Lance stroll, initially 19th. Then quickly overtaking Fernando Alonso, the protégé of the sector Ferrari opted for a pit stop on lap 15, then called a lucky sequence until the Safety Car.

Tenth on lap 10, Ollie Bearman lost only two positions during his second pit stop thanks to a timely Safety Car. Finally managing to contain a very fit Kimi Antonelli aboard a sharp W32 for a total of 16 laps, the Briton was rewarded with a point.

Esteban Ocon, the paying strategy

At the end of a qualifying session that suggested harmful consequences, the Norman was able to turn things around brilliantly. Making a pit stop on the 9th lap of the race, the former driver Alpine then took advantage of the later stops of his competitors to move up the grid very gradually, even occupying 6th position before being overtaken by Lewis Hamilton on turn 25.

Starting from his initial 14th place after his second change of tires, Esteban Ocon could not resist for long a Max Verstappen in difficulty, but still faster than the Frenchman. In front Yuki tsunoda, the VF-25 bearing the number 31 collected 4 points under the checkered flag, and sees its driver showing ambition for next week.

In Jeddah, Haas could extend a symbolic lead after the first triple header of the season. Despite a slight deficit to Scuderia Ferrari, the Americans are fighting elsewhere, looking to confirm the significant work they have done this winter against their direct rivals.

Bearman is well helped by the little DRS train where no one overtakes anyone. It's no longer a race but a procession.
