Although he finished this Grand Prix outside the points zone, Esteban Ocon will have treated the public to a rich exchange of words with Lewis HamiltonUnfortunately for the Frenchman, he did not have the resources to fight the seven-time world champion in the longer term.
"We lacked performance today. We weren't as fast as the cars in front and unfortunately we fell behind, he regretted on Canal+. The car didn't feel bad, so I think we just need more performance for this race. We'll keep pushing knowing the team has a plan to try and improve this car."
A deserved reaction for Ocon in Miami
While further developments could be expected at Haas From the next race in Imola, Esteban Ocon did not fail to appreciate his maneuvers alongside his rival of a few laps in the person of Lewis Hamilton.
“Normally I never defend because I knew he had more speed than us and that he was going to finish in front but I said to myself 'well, I'm tired of being passive in these things, we don't have the speed of course, but he's going to stay behind for a few laps!' and we managed to keep Lewis for five, six laps, it was a good battle anyway, the Frenchman rejoiced. But we would need a little more performance to be closer to them in rhythm."
Visibly enthusiastic in the medium term, Esteban Ocon was unable to compare his final performance to that of his teammate. Oliver Bearman was indeed forced to abandon the race, due to a faulty engine that broke down in the middle of the race. Imola will be an opportunity to see a possibly different pace, in a Grand Prix partly at home for the team powered by Ferrari.
