Ocon between disappointment and incomprehension after his elimination in Q1

The weekends follow one another and are not the same for Esteban Ocon. The Frenchman, dazzling at Suzuka with an excellent 4th place in the rain and a 5th place in qualifying, fell back into his faults in Austin. As in Singapore three weeks earlier, the Norman was eliminated in Q1, with a sad 17th position on the grid. Always relegated to several tenths of his teammate Fernando Alonso, the French driver was unable to find rhythm on Saturday despite the development made in Texas.
“It was a complex day for us today. Coming out of qualifying in Q1 is always difficult to swallow, especially since we have a competitive car and we entered this race with a fifth place in qualifying in Japan., explained Esteban Ocon after qualifying. The conditions were tricky today and, to be honest, I haven't felt completely comfortable with the car since the start of the weekend. »
An elimination " difficult to understand " for Ocon

It’s clear that it’s disappointing. » The Norman did not manage to give an explanation for his elimination from Q1, while theAlpine shone in Japan two weeks ago. “The car worked at Suzuka, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work here. They are pretty much the same track characteristics. We will try to find the solution. »
Starting from 17th place for the United States Grand Prix, Esteban Ocon will have work to do in the race to pick up points. In the fight against McLaren, the French team is counting on its driver to beat their opponents, while Daniel Ricciardo will leave just in front of the Frenchman. “ There is work ahead of us to find out what went wrong today but, as always, I am sure we will find the reasons why. As for the race, we will give everything to try to get back into the points. »
