Ocon and Gasly disappointed with their Saturday in Germany

The first qualifying session for the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim for Esteban Ocon (Force India) and Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) would not remain in the annals. The two French people saw their session shortened from Q1, where they achieved the 16th and 17th times.

For the protégé of Mercedes, the regrets are substantial. “I think the car had more capacity than that, we can see that Checo (Sergio Perez) good times (10th), analyzes Esteban Ocon at the microphone of Canal+.

The native of Evreux (Eure) did not explain it on camera, but he seems to have been considerably bothered by the yellow flag caused by the immobilization of the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton during the last minute of Q1. “This is the consequence of several things, prefers to comment on the Habs, who lost precious driving time on Friday.

I did not participate in EL1 (he gave up his steering wheel to Quebecer Nicholas Latifi), I competed in the second session on Friday on only two sets of tires and on Saturday morning I didn't ride much because of the rain. We arrived at the qualifications a little blind, (There was not) not enough preparation. »

Pierre Gasly was normally able to prepare on Friday, but that was not enough. He nevertheless does better than his stablemate Brendon Hartley (18th) by three tenths. “It’s complicated for us at the moment. We missed Q2 by four or five hundredths. I manage to put everything together during the last “run” but we lack performance. »

The 2 GP2016 Series champion already has his mind set on Sunday. “We'll have to fight, we're counting on twists and turns and incidents to get back on track. I'm not going to give up, that's for sure. »
