Ocon: Hockenheim should smile at Force India

After a difficult start to the season, Esteban Ocon seems to be gaining momentum as the season progresses, taking advantage of Force India's best form. With the exception of the French GP where he was the victim of a collision at the start, the French driver has finished in the points four times in the last five races.

The 2015 GP3 Series champion is all the more confident as he prepares to perform well at Hockenheim, which is hosting the German GP this weekend.

“I feel ready for the last two races before the break. We have had good results in the last few races and I want to stay on this upward trajectory until the holidays”, notes Esteban Ocon.

“Hockenheim is one of the circuits I know best. I have driven there a lot in the past, firstly in F3 and also in DTM with Mercedes. It is one of the historic circuits which is important for the F1, just like the German GP », specifies the Frenchman.

“This weekend should be positive for us. The track should suit us with its long straights and slow turns. So we have a good opportunity to collect more points. I like this track which offers great overtaking opportunities, particularly in the hairpin towards the end of a long straight and in a left turn a little further on. The races are often close there. »

His teammate Sergio Pérez shares this optimism, he who also managed to finish in the points during the last two Grands Prix.

“I am happy to have been able to save a point at Silverstone after a good comeback, recognizes the Mexican. We must at all costs optimize our weekend in Germany because we can be in the good part of the peloton if we take advantage of our performances. There are still many races (eleven) left to go and we are progressing weekend after weekend. I still believe we can aim for fourth place in the Championship. »

Force India occupies sixth position in the Constructors' Championship, 21 points behind Renault. In 2016, the Indian team placed its two cars in the points with a 7th place taken by Nico Hulkenberg and the 10th position obtained by Sergio Pérez.
