Ocon: “I will remember this day all my life”

Esteban Ocon saw the checkered flag of his first Grand Prix of F1 at Spa-Francorchamps. Rio Haryanto's replacement at Manor avoided incidents in the race and finished ahead of the Sauber of Felipe Nasr while his teammate Pascal Wehrlein retired following contact with the McLaren by Jenson Button.

“I was proud to be on the starting grid and see the checkered flag, commented the rookie. I will remember this day all my life. It was clearly not an easy race. So much happened during this first round. It was difficult to avoid all that while attacking to gain places. It wasn't easy to deal with the red flag situation either, but the most important thing is that Kevin (Magnusse) is okay. »

“I learned a lot about race management with different situations, added Esteban Ocon. The degradation was very high on this track and it allowed me to train on tire management. For Monza (the Italian GP being contested on August 4), I would like to work on my qualifications to progress. »
