Ocon played it safe at the start

Esteban Ocon achieved an excellent result at the Belgian GP by taking 3rd place on the grid and 6th position at the finish just behind his teammate Sergio Pérez.

The 2015 GP3 Series champion made a very good start and found himself almost level with the leader Sebastian Vettel before braking at Les Combes. But the Frenchman preferred to take his foot off to avoid contact, pushing him back to 4th place before he was caught by Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes).

“I got off to a good start and found myself alongside Seb at the exit of the first turn. He had better traction, explained the Racing Point Force India driver on Sky Sports. I don't know what would have happened if I had been able to take the lead of the race. I was probably missing a meter. I'm going to look back at the images and see what I could have done differently. I braked early to play it safe and Sergio made a perfect overtake. »

Esteban Ocon in any case highlighted himself at the best time, the French driver looking for a steering wheel for the 2019 season after Lawrence's takeover of Force India Stroll.
