Behind the reigning GP3 Series champion, Kimi Räikkönen, who took over from Charles Leclerc within the Team Ferrari, takes the second time in 1'32″730. Pierre Gasly (Red Bull) and Jolyon Palmer (Renault) follow in third and fourth position.
Fifth, Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) fails three thousandths behind the RS16 and precedes Santino Ferrucci (Haas), Nikita mazepin (Force India), Sergio Sette Camara, for his debut with Toro Rosso, Pascal Wehrlein, who continues his work for Pirelli on a 05 Mercedes W2014, Valtteri Bottas (Williams) and Jordan king, fielded by Manor.
