Ocon slowed down by a broken flat bottom

Esteban Ocon will have a lot to do to get back into the points at the Brazilian GP. With his penalty of 5 places on the grid following a gearbox change, the Frenchman will have to start from 18th position between the McLaren de Fernando Alonso and Williams de Lance stroll. The 2015 GP3 Series champion was also hampered in qualifying by the breakage of his flat bottom.

“We had the potential to reach Q3, but we failed to get the full potential out of the car. We changed the settings after FP3 but it didn't work as expected. I also suffered from a flat bottom which broke during my attempt and this probably caused me to lose a little support. My penalty therefore makes me start at the back of the grid. I hope it will rain heavily for the race to be able to get back up.”, said the Frenchman.

“I would prefer it to rain from the start, but otherwise it will be complicated if the weather remains dry because it is a track where overtaking is complicated. Our pace is good, but you need a big difference in performance to be able to take the advantage.", said the Force India driver.

Esteban Ocon has never managed to get into the points at the Brazilian GP. His first participation with Manor resulted in a 12th place while he retired last year after a collision.
