Extended for 3 additional seasons at Alpine, Esteban Ocon is more than ever one of the cornerstones of the French project in the light of the 2022 aerodynamic revolution.

Laurent Red welcomed the contract extension of the Norman pilot, made official this Wednesday ahead of the French Grand Prix (June 18-20)

« We are extremely proud to keep Esteban within the family Alpine, declared the general director ofAlpine Cars.

Since returning to the team in 2020, Esteban has gained the confidence and stature to consistently achieve good results and contribute to the development of the car with the team.

Despite his young age, he is very experienced in Formula 1 and on a positive trajectory due to his maturity and his talent behind the wheel.

He is a major asset in our ranks today, but also for the future when meeting the challenge of new regulations. We have every confidence in Esteban to lead the team and the brand to the next level and achieve its long-term goals.

Esteban is an asset beyond F1 by being deeply involved in the overall project ofAlpine. His personality and values make him a natural ambassador forAlpine ».

Despite his young age, Ocon (24) already has plenty of experience in F1 with 73 career starts since his debut at the 2016 Belgian GP with Manor.

His links with the tandem enstone-Viry-Châtillon dates back almost 10 years, since he became a Lotus junior driver at the age of 15.

Even if the story was sometimes peppered with unfortunate events (recall the episode of the aborted transfer in the summer of 2018 after the recruitment of Daniel Ricciardo), it is now long-term and stable.
