Ocon: “We’re going to have to talk about that.”

Esteban Ocon livened up the second part of the Canadian GP by fighting a duel with his teammate Sergio Pérez for 4th place. The 2015 GP3 Series champion extended his first stint and had fresher tires than the Mexican who was looking to put pressure on Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) for 3rd position.

Noting that Sergio Pérez was unable to get close enough to Daniel Ricciardo, Force India asked the Mexican to let Esteban Ocon pass so that he could try his luck against the Red Bull driver, even if it meant giving up the position later. The pressure was even greater as Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) reduced the gap on the VJM10.

Sergio Pérez finally refused to respect the instructions, which allowed Sebastian Vettel to take 4th place ahead of the Mexican followed by Esteban Ocon.

“It was a hard-fought GP from start to finish. We will have to discuss this with the team because I think I had the speed to overtake Ricciardo. It was tough with my teammate but we're going to fight until the end of the season." declared Esteban Ocon at the microphone of Canal+.

Esteban Ocon learned during his interview that Force India had given instructions.

“I think the podium was within my reach, there was a chance. It's not my best race, but I was fighting further back. added Esteban Ocon.
