It's official: Sergio Perez will no longer drive for Red Bull in 2025. It was the driver himself who drew first by publishing a message on his social networks before the Austrian team relayed an official press release. The rumors therefore ended up getting the better of the Mexican who left the team whose colors he had worn since 2021, paying for two very disappointing last seasons and above all far from the expectations of its leaders.

In four seasons, Checo contested 90 Grands Prix with the Milton Keynes-based team, for five victories and 29 podiums. I am incredibly grateful for the four years I have spent with Red Bull Racing and for the opportunity to race with such an extraordinary team., he wrote in his message. Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience and I will always cherish the successes we have achieved together. We have broken records, reached remarkable milestones and I have had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way..

A big thank you to all the team members, from management, engineers and mechanics, catering, hospitality, kitchen, marketing and communications, and everyone who works in Milton Keynes, and I wish you all the best for the future. »

In his farewell message, Sergio Perez did not fail to salute the man who was his teammate for four campaigns, Max Verstappen. " It was also an honour to race alongside Max as a teammate for all these years and share our successes, He continues. I especially thank the fans around the world, and especially the Mexican fans, for their unwavering support every day. We will see each other again soon. And remember… Never give up.”

As for his successor, Red Bull has not yet announced anything and plans to do so " on time " even if everything suggests that Sergio Pérez will be replaced by Liam Lawson, opening wide the doors of the Formula 1 to the Frenchman Isack Hadjar.

too cumbersome tsunoda! and not enough control of his nerves! in addition he is a honda driver so no interest for ford! and we must think of a future without verstappen so training lawson would be the most logical

I would prefer Tsunoda at RB to Lawson. Giving a Japanese the chance to win GPs would boost ratings and I think he deserves that chance.

Personally I wouldn't criticize Perez he did what he could with a car that was entirely developed for Verstappen everyone knows this team is the max Verstappen racing I remember that when he had a car that suited him he had brilliant races I'm thinking in particular of Baku 2023 where he kept Verstappen behind him for a good part of the race

Let's not forget that RB may have demoted Perez to Racing Bulls, as it did with Kvyat or Gasly, to save the cost of a contract termination and that he finishes the one signed this year. In this case, don't cry victory too early for Hadjar. Tsunoda would perhaps be better equipped to move up to RBR, while I don't give much for Lawson's skin, who doesn't have enough experience, and whose name will probably be added to those of the "kleenex" thrown by RBR.

In - well, it was written for a while! We will know in a while how much TexMex's lawyers managed to extract, as a Christmas 2024 gift, from Red Bull Racing for this early termination of the 2-year contract...
