Paddy Lowe to join Mercedes ahead of Canada

Mercedes AMG F1 et McLaren-Mercedes have agreed to let Paddy Lowe join the Brackley team as the new executive director of the technical department. The former technical director of Woking had been in the hot seat since the announcement of his upcoming departure for the German team and had to wait out his contract at the end of the season. The Stuttgart manufacturer will be able to benefit from the qualities of the British engineer before the Canadian Grand Prix since he will join the German team from June 3.

Mercedes AMG F1 has insisted on the presence of Ross Brawn who will retain his role as Team Principal despite speculation that he will be replaced by Paddy Lowe. “I am delighted to welcome Paddy to the team and look forward to working with him”, added the team director. “He has an impressive number of successes in the discipline. It's no secret that every team needs to find the balance between this season and next year. But the fact that we will see many changes in 2015 and 2016 is perhaps less obvious, with the progressions of our development on the new generation of single-seaters and engines.
