No Williams-Renault before 2012

Williams announced last Monday that its single-seaters would no longer be powered by Cosworth from next season, Renault having been preferred for the future. The Losange will thus motorize four stables, thus achieving the objective set by the French manufacturer.

Nevertheless, if the world of F1 is impatient to see a Williams-Renault again, Jean-François Caubet indicated that we would have to wait a little longer. “We keep the same philosophy, we probably won't do testing before the end of the year, but rather at the beginning of next year”, declared the director of Renault Sport F1.

The Frenchman specified that the signing of the agreement was delayed by the hesitations of the FIA concerning the future engine of the discipline. “We had been in discussions since last year and it was impossible to finalize the agreement the previous season”, he added. “We were about to sign before the arrival of the V6, which delayed the situation a little. »
