Pastor Maldonado owns his mistake in Singapore

This is becoming a habit for Pastor Maldonado who has been making a number of blunders this season with Lotus F1 Team. The Venezuelan lost control of his E22 during the second free practice session and hit the wall head-on at turn 10 as he began his stint on super soft tires. “I didn't feel like I was going too fast, I just lacked rear grip. I just lost the car in the middle of the corner. It was a mistake, the car was oversteering too much. The viarge exit is quite narrow and we cannot catch up. I already had significant oversteer in the previous corners but the track was wider and I could recover. »

Despite this new disappointment which forced Lotus F1 Team to change chassis for Patsor Maldonado, the latter still noted encouraging signs for this weekend. His teammate Romain Grosjean notably signed the 12th time. “We have progressed a little on this circuit. It may not be extraordinary yet but we are closer to the top ten and we can hope to be a little more competitive in this race. It will be hard, we realize that, but we are closer. We are about a tenth of Toro Rosso while we were one second away during the last event (at the Italian Grand Prix, at Monza). »
