Paul di Resta: “In the points”

Are you now a regular pilot? How do you feel in this new role?
“I am naturally very happy to be able to start in Grand Prix this season. Become a pilot F1 was a long-standing ambition, my goal since my beginnings in karting. I worked hard to get this opportunity. Having him with Force India, a young and dynamic team, is all the more exciting. I can't wait to be on the grid in Bahrain. It can never come fast enough! »

Do you think the test pilot experience will help you in 2011?
“I know the team very well. I understand how people work, systems and procedures. I don?t have to learn it anymore. It?s a real advantage to seek to improve from day one. I also know certain circuits from having ridden on Friday morning. Finding my marks will therefore be quicker and easier during the weekends. This is an ideal position to start racing. »

Is there a circuit that you are particularly looking forward to?
“Silverstone will definitely be special because it?s my national Grand Prix. Last year, I was able to ride there on Friday morning: during the first lap, I could hear the crowd. The atmosphere is incredible. There are other specific circuits like Monza, Spa or Singapore. »

What are your goals ?
“I will have to learn and create a solid foundation for myself. We will have to learn the circuits, understand the car and obtain enough information to achieve the objectives we have set for ourselves. To achieve this, we will have to complete as many races as possible and make sure that we are in the points when we finish them. »

Will you be 100% focused on F1 or are you keeping another program like last year?
“I will only drive in F1 this season. With twenty Grands Prix on the calendar, there isn't much time left to do anything else. I waited a long time for this chance. As my efforts bear fruit, I will try to be as successful as possible. »
