Pedro de la Rosa very pessimistic about the future of HRT

For Pedro de la Rosa and HRT, the end of the 2012 season marks the beginning of doubt. At the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix, where the two drivers saw the checkered flag in 17th and 18th positions, the Spanish driver declared himself “sad and worried”. “We ended the season with so much uncertainty about what will happen in the future”, declared the pilot during an interview with the Spanish channel Antena 3. “Are we going to continue, are we going to change our name? ? All this makes me uneasy because when I talk to the mechanics I can't figure out if the last time we worked together? Basically, this team project had to be long-term,” remembers the former test pilot from McLaren.

A year and a half after purchasing the team, the Spanish investment fund Thesan Capital, third owner of the team since its creation in 2010, declared that it wanted to part ways with it and is currently in discussions with several groups. Given the economic situation in Spain, many media in the country doubt whether the team will be able to continue next year under the Iberian colors. Some even argue that, in the absence of a solution found before December 2, the latter could be dissolved. “Whatever happens, for several reasons, the team will no longer be Spanish and that makes me very sad. We will probably never see a team from my country again in Formula 1 », even says Pedro de la Rosa, for whom this possible withdrawal could also sign the end of his career.
