Pérez disappointed with the start of the Racing Point season

If Racing Point managed to finish in the points during the first two Grands Prix of the 2019 season, the British team born in the ashes of Force India only obtained 3 units (tied with Toro Rosso) with 9th place in Lance stroll in Melbourne (Australia) and the 10th position of Sergio Pérez in Bahrain.

This start to the season does not satisfy Sergio Pérez who knows the potential of his team well having evolved within this structure for 5 years.

“We didn't have enough time to test and work on the changes we made at the start of the season, explained the Mexican, quoted on the official F1 website. This put us in difficulty in the middle of the pack. We scored points in Melbourne and Bahrain, but we are not fast enough at the moment and we are not in the position we want. »

Racing Point is paying for the problems encountered by the team last year when it was still called Force India. Financial problems led to delays on development work. However, Sergio Pérez believes in the ability of his team to bounce back, notably with the financial support of the new buyers.

“We have proven in the past that the season is very long. No matter where you are now, it's the position in Abu Dhabi (the last race of the season) that will count, he said. I think we have identified the source of our problems. We have a lot of work ahead of us and I am quite confident in our abilities to meet the objectives set this year. »
