Pérez does not regret his choice to stay with Force India

Long placed at the center of the transfer market for 2017, Sergio Pérez finally decided to continue one more season with Force India. However, the Mexican had several contacts, notably with Renault Sport F1 team.

Failure to attract the former pilot McLaren, the French team managed to sign its German teammate Nico Hulkenberg. A choice that Pérez does not regret, as he told us in the paddock of the Mexican Grand Prix.

“It was obviously an interesting project, Renault being a major manufacturer, but you also have to realize that we are 4th in the championship and that the places in the three best teams are locked, admits Pérez.

So, leaving for Renault would have been, at best, synonymous with stagnation. And then, I'm happy at Force India, a team that has done so much for my career that I also wanted to be loyal to it. »
