Pérez-Racing Point: The drop in tension

Through a short message, Sergio Pérez wanted to clarify things after his media outing where he admitted that certain members of the team were hiding things from him. But above all, these few words seem to hide a broken relationship between the two parties.

Pérez-Racing Point: The drop in tension

« Since the news came out, some people on the team have been trying to hide things, and I find that sad. At this time we should be transparent as much as possible, in order to achieve our goals and ensure we score as many ranking points as possible ».

At a press conference this Thursday, Checo did not hesitate for a single second to make it clear that he was not comfortable with the current situation within his team. We can agree with him after the way his bosses announced the end of their collaboration (a simple phone call before the Tuscan GP) at the end of this season.

These statements then suggested that links with the Racing Point staff were quite simply severed and that the end of the season was set to be wild. In addition, the Mexican must wait until the meeting at the Nürburgring (October 11) to receive the latest package of improvements unlike his teammate Lance stroll already equipped. Enough to add a little more fuel to the fire even if it seems that everything is going well between Sergio Pérez and the pink team despite this media squabble.

After his appearance in front of the press, Checo set the record straight via social networks. The Mexican pilot shared a little Instagram story where he explained that no quarrel existed with his employer.

« I've known this team for seven years now and it's like family to me, he says first. I spoke with the team and they accept my explanation. There is no question that after seven years of collaboration we will end on bad terms. The situation is completely calmed.

We are all moving forward. We all want the same thing: to score as many points as possible and have great final races. We will give everything and try to get on the podium in these remaining eight races ". The group is living well, apparently at least! Internally, the situation must be very different…
