Pérez: Competing against Verstappen at Red Bull, “a big challenge”

One of the most scrutinized transfers of the winter was the Sergio Pérez's move from Racing Point to Red Bull. The Mexican arrives in the backyard of the darling of the Austro-English team, Max Verstappen.

The winner of the Sakhir Grand Prix spoke to the podcast of the Formula 1, Beyond the grid, on his new Dutch teammate. “Since I knew I was coming to Red Bull, I knew that I was going to face a big challenge, which is to measure myself against Max. It's a very complete driver. To be honest, I wasn't surprised, I have seen in recent weeks that he is a very strong driver and that it will be a great challenge », declares the 31-year-old pilot.

Sergio Pérez assures him, he will have no complexes facing a driver who has become the leader after six years in the team. "I don't see why he should worry about me or why I should worry about him." We both came here to do the best job possible. »

For the moment, no clouds obstruct the sky between the two teammates. Will this last? “He’s a very cool guy. He just loves driving and we had a lot of fun in the few times we spent together. »

We did a lot of marketing events together. We spent two days together doing things for the media and it was just enjoyable. Max is just a young man who loves life and flying. »
