Perez, like the Ferrari de Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz, was powerless in the face of Max Verstappen, on a series of seven consecutive poles. The Mexican, however, believes that without a small mistake at turn 8, he could have beaten his teammate. A place on the front row was in any case possible for Pérez, who will have a hard time facing the red (and blue) cars in the race this Sunday.

Still second in the championship, Sergio Pérez is only 12 points ahead of Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque, second in the Sprint yesterday, has a new chance to get back on his home opponent. Red Bull, and Pérez expects a fierce battle with the two cars hit by the Prancing Horse.

Sergio Pérez (Red Bull n°11), fourth in qualifying for the Miami GP: “It was quite tricky on the track. Unfortunately, I didn't have a very clean first lap, where the track was at its best. Then I made a small mistake at turn 8, which cost me at least the front row, and probably pole position. Unfortunately, we did not maximize our pace today. I remain optimistic.

It hurts to miss the first line by a few hundredths, but that's how it is. The gaps are very close, we made some mistakes in our settings until qualifying, we have to continue to attack to understand where the problems come from. But we're getting really close. It will be difficult [to pass the Ferraris], they have very good pace so it will be a really interesting fight. »
