Petrov with Lotus Renault until 2012

The Rookie will therefore be alongside Robert Kubica again next year, even if his first season was mixed. " It's awesome. I learned a lot this year and I know that I will be stronger in 2011. I am extremely proud to be part of this team and I am determined to show that they were right to believe in me,” announced Vitaly Petrov during the press conference.

The Russian will have finally seduced Genii Capital and the Lotus Group, whose various interests do not prevent the Lotus driver Renault to feel good within the team. “The drivers who have passed through the team have always said how very special the atmosphere is there and I must say that they are right,” added Vitaly Petrov. “The team is very warm, friendly and open, and I get along very well with the members of the team. »

But the 2011 season will include many new things that Robert Kubica's teammate will have to face. “There are a number of changes that we will have to adapt to: new tires, the adjustable rear wing and KERS, which I have never used before. There will also be a new race, in India. We will have to adapt to these new features, but they should improve the spectacle and offer more competitive races. I have already been able to see the new car in the wind tunnel and I am optimistic. I also like our new colors. I?m really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of the new car. »

Vitaly Petrov will above all seek to avoid the mistakes which slowed down his 2010 season. “My objective is to continue to improve as a driver and to be more consistent. I made some mistakes this year and lost points, but I know I will be much better this year. I think I have shown that I am fast, but I still need to be more consistent over an entire weekend and get the most out of all the riding sessions. »

In the meantime, the young driver is resting before starting the 2011 season program in January. “I thought I would spend a few days at Maranello this winter but I was told that maybe it wasn't a very good idea? Seriously, after a busy year, I'm going to go home to spend some time with my family and friends. It will also be an opportunity to recharge my batteries before tackling 2011. I will be training a lot to be ready from the start of the new season. Then, in January, I will go to the factory to see my engineers and to make my seat. It?s already 2011.”
