This will be a bit of a reward for their recent efforts within their respective championships and one of the milestones always eagerly awaited by the residents of the Renault Sports Academy.

From October 29 to November 2, on the sidelines of the Bahrain Grand Prix on the Sakhir track, Oscar piastri, Christian Lundgaard and Guanyu-Zhou will be able to try their hand at driving the Renault R.S. 18.

Lundgaard will open the ball on October 29, for his third outing in the seat of a car F1, before the Australian Piastri, FIA champion F3 2020 will only debut at the highest level the next day. The other two days will be closed by Renault F1 Team official test driver Guanyu Zhou, who had already driven the R.S. 17 and R.S. 18.

“It goes without saying that I am very excited to drive the R.S.18 next week in Bahrain. It will of course be my first tests with an F1 car, so it will definitely be a moment to cherish and one that I will remember for a very long time, admits Piastri.

It's not every day that you get the opportunity to get behind the wheel of an F1 car. So I’m very grateful to the team for this opportunity. There will be a lot to learn, like getting used to the power, downforce and braking of the car.

It will be a real challenge, but I love taking on new ones. I drove in Bahrain earlier in the year during our FIA Formula 3 Championship pre-season testing, but I've obviously never been around the circuit in F1, so I'm looking forward to being on track. »
