Perfect weekend for Oscar piastri. 24 hours after achieving the best time in qualifying, the driver McLaren earned 25 more points by winning the race without ever being troubled. As a bonus, he also took the fastest lap of the race, a sign of assured control from start to finish.
Although the British team had never won a race on this track before, the day's winner did not hide his satisfaction in an interview before taking to the podium: “It’s great to get this result here! An incredible weekend. We started well with qualifying yesterday and we finished the job today in style, he commented, smiling. I can't thank the team enough for the car they gave us, it was particularly useful here. It was a great weekend, it was obviously a very important race for us, for our owners. (Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company owns 56% of McLaren Group, Ed.). It's never been a track we've been comfortable on, so it's good to finally get this win for the team here."
Piastri in management despite the Safety Car
Regarding the safety car intervention after the halfway point, the Australian could have done without it, but he did not lose his composure while he was in the lead. "I would have preferred it not to have intervened, but I was quite confident. Our pace was good. I was confident I could make a good restart. I also knew Lando was on mediums, and those tires were the right ones. I made a good restart and was able to go all the way to victory."
Rigorous, the Australian remained true to himself, not sure he would take part in the celebrations linked to this first victory for McLaren in Bahrain. "I have to focus on next week's race (smiles), But it was a great weekend for everyone. It's a great place to do it, and I'm sure everyone will enjoy it.
Thanks to this success, Oscar Piastri now remains at 2e place in the World Drivers' Championship standings. Ahead of him, Lando Norris, is now only three points ahead of his teammate.

Little by little, the Aussie is making his mark at McLaren. A cold-blooded animal, the Aussie didn't exactly show his joy at the end of an undeniable victory, while his teammate made mistake after mistake throughout the weekend!
