Pic wants to surpass Marussia

Charles Pic has just completed the Korean and Japanese Grands Prix, but nothing helps: Marussia remains ahead in the Manufacturers' standings thanks to the thirteenth place taken by Jules Bianchi in Malaysia. However, the Frenchman achieved a fourteenth place for the second time this season.

Among the smallest teams, the manufacturers' verdict often comes down to small details that bring big rewards to the one who wins the showdown. The money from TV rights is at stake, i.e. several million dollars, a financial windfall from which the red lantern in the team rankings is unfairly deprived. In 2012, Vitaly Petrov allowed Caterham to overtake Marussia during the last race, in Sao Paulo in Brazil, by gaining the upper hand over… Charles Pic, then driver of the Russian team.

“In Yeongam, we missed an additional position to overtake Marussia in the Constructors' Championship, and even if luck will now have to be on our side, I can tell you that the Caterham team is sparing no effort to achieve this. objective, admits the Frenchman, before continuing. Suzuka was then a fantastic meeting, during which we worked to attack to compensate for the drive-through (penalty for passing through the pit lane. Editor's note) which was imposed on us and which we respected from the end of the first round. The car behaved magnificently and I still enjoy this circuit as much as possible.”

Charles Pic and Caterham's next attempt to surpass Marussia in the standings will take place in India, at the New Delhi circuit, on October 27.
