In Spa, the man of the day was Pierre Gasly. Twelfth on the starting grid, the Alpha Tauri driver finished the Belgian meeting in 8th place after a race in which he continued to overtake as soon as the lights went out.
« With the hard tires it was rather difficult but I saw space on the outside from turn 1, I overtook Dany (Kvyat) and I simply tried to place myself on the suction », Declares the Norman at the microphone of Sky Sports F1 who then had to work to defend his place.
However, the race was not an easy task for the Frenchman who suffered on the hard tyres. “ I must admit that it was not easy with the hard tires at the beginning compared to the other soft tires.
I tried to stay as clean as possible on the track and close to the drivers in front of me and I was happy to have been able to gain these two positions on the first lap because we didn't expect that ».

And if he was elected driver of the day, Pierre Gasly showed that he deserved it thanks to his overtaking, daring for some like the one on Sergio Pérez at Raidillon.
« Honestly, I thought we were going to end up in the wall. I'm not kidding. I was inside and I couldn't go beyond that and we were probably at 280-300 km/h. Sergio really pushed me down which motivated me even more to not give up and do it. It was tight! », smiles the Alpha Tauri driver without forgetting the supporters.
" VS'It’s always a pleasure to be elected driver of the day. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. It was a good race for us ».
