Pierre Gasly: “Still details to settle”

What assessment do you draw from your performance at the opening of the European season?

I had a good start and a rather satisfactory opening stint. I found myself in a fight with Charles (Leclerc. Editor's note) at turn 3 on the first lap. It was very close but happened.

Midway through the race, I caught debris in the front wing, some rubber, and that made it difficult for me for the rest of the race since the pace dropped.

That didn’t stop you from being offensive on the restart…

I knew I had to try something right away. It was quite intense again with Charles, then Magnussen. In the end, things didn't go too badly and I ended up back where I started.

Are you finally in harmony with your car?

I'm making progress but there are still details to be worked out. I have to adjust my riding style to car to get the most out of it. I'm a little too aggressive with the car and I need to improve on the traction. The goal is to be able to constantly evolve at the limit.
