Pierre Gasly still uncertain for the US GP

Si Toro Rosso initially had the presence of Pierre Gasly at the US GP played in Austin (Texas) on October 22, the Frenchman's program for the coming weeks remains uncertain.

The 2016 GP2 Series champion faces a clash of dates with the Super Formula finale at Suzuka where he raced last weekend with Toro Rosso taking 13th place. Running half a point behind leader Hiroaki Ishiura (Inging), Pierre Gasly defends the interests of Honda with Team Mugen. However, the Japanese manufacturer has signed a three-season contract with the Red Bull to power Toro Rosso from next year.

The decision should be made public in the coming days (or even hours) and speculation is rife, even going so far as to contradict itself.

In the event of Pierre Gasly's absence at the US GP, the question will be who will replace him alongside Daniil Kvyat since Carlos Sainz Jr will have worn the colors of Renault Sport F1 Team with the departure of Jolyon Palmer.

Find out in the analysis of the Japanese GP carried out by our special correspondent in AUTO issue 2135hebdo, available from Monday evening in digital version on all platforms, and from Wednesday on newsstands.
