Pierre Gasly "could not fight on equal terms" in Austria

He saw two Saubers and two Haas, increasing the gap between the rest of the grid andAlpine, last place at Manufacturers ranking with eleven points scored in ten meetings. The team ofenstone This season there have been more retirements than top 10 finishes.

Sixth at the end of the first round, Pierre Gasly saw his pace and position in the standings collapse as the Grand Prix progressed. "I think we have some damage to the car, it made the afternoon extremely long, confided the Norman to the microphone of Canal +. I can't find the words to describe how it was, but... it's not normal."

Even going so far as to explain having "tried to stay on track for 70 laps", the Frenchman still draws some positives from a Grand Prix to forget: "I think we had a good start to the race. There was room to fight a bit further up the field. But with the damage, we know it's extremely close between the cars, and with what we were losing, it made the afternoon very, very long."

"We are clearly a step behind. We will have to continue working."

With fifteenth place his Argentinian teammate Franco Colapinto, Alpine finished in the same positions as in Canada. Pierre Gasly insists, however, that this time the performance of the A525s was reduced: "It's difficult to be objective because today we weren't able to fight on equal terms. We'll have to try to see exactly how much it's costing us, but we're clearly a step behind. We'll have to keep working. We know it depends on the little details."

From a more global point of view, the results are all the more negative and disappointing because the pace and hope were present. "I was happy, I managed to stay out of the pitfalls at the start, to find myself in a good position where we had everything to do. Unfortunately, it wasn't our day." A phrase that has actually been coming up for several days...

Damage? That remains to be confirmed, but to date it's not the case! One thing is certain: the monumental error of starting with the soft tyres! In terms of pure performance, the A425 is 5th at this GP, at worst 6th. We're not yet halfway through the season, so there's plenty of room and time to go for 6th or even 5th place among the manufacturers.

So what is Brille A Tort doing beyond putting pressure on its two drivers to score points? Alpine is 10th in the 2025 ranking and barring a miracle, we don't see why that would change during the rest of the season!

The Renault engine was already no longer up to the competition, but now they don't have to make much effort... We'll probably hear the usual refrain, that the team "wants to do better at Silverstone." But clearly wanting isn't enough.

Last place in the constructors' standings is assured, with the income that goes with it, fortunately there is Colapinto and its sponsors to compensate. Of course, Ocon must have been jubilant when he overtook Gasly. Even if the Haas is not the best single-seater in the race, he manages to get the best out of it.

Poor PG. Not only is the car not progressing, but the teams behind it are getting ahead! I suspect that the car's development has stopped and that resources have been shifted to 2026 with the arrival of the German engine. Briatore is a gangster who lies to everyone, especially the drivers. I fear for the future of PG, which deserves better. Ocon must be laughing to himself!
