Pierre Gasly 'doesn't understand Red Bull's decision'

He was one of the names regularly cited to replace a Daniil Kvyat in delicacy since his “demotion” from Red Bull Racing à Toro Rosso since the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona last May.

In addition, the performance of Pierre Gasly in GP2 Series within Prema Racing, have placed him as a contender for the title in the series of accession to the F1, one of the conditions often put forward by the Red Bull industry before any promotion to the premier category.

However, the announcement of Kvyat's contract extension with Toro Rosso for 2017 was confirmed on the sidelines of the last United States Grand Prix, in Austin, Texas. News which had the effect of a cold shower for the native of Rouen.

“The reasons, I don’t know them. Dr. Helmut Marko made me understand that I was in the right place, but not at the right time… I don't really understand the decision. » commented Gasly at the microphone of Canal +.

The Frenchman will compete for the 2016 GP2 Series title on the weekend of November 26 and 27 in Abu Dhabi for the season finale, contested alongside the F1 finale. As we indicate in n°206 of AUTOhebdo, Gasly's future could, in the event of failure to arrive in F1 via another team, go through Super Formula, like what Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne achieved this year.
