Pierre Gasly seizes opportunities

If the driver performance Alpha Tauri was unanimously praised at the end of the first of the two events to be held on the Silverstone track, it is also because it surprised everyone. But should we really be surprised?

“We had really strong results at the end of last season in Brazil but also in Singapore, Suzuka and Mexico and it was important to carry that momentum into 2020, and I just feel like that's what we manage to do, explained today Pierre Gasly at a press conference.

Almost every weekend, we manage to extract all the potential from the car, even if we start with Fridays that are not always easy. Personally I am really satisfied with the way we work. I feel like I'm taking a step forward with each session and things are always getting better.

There have been no major changes, just the relationship with the team, the exchanges with my engineers are constantly improving. We started at Spa last year and now we have a few more races together, so I feel like the understanding is really good and I'm really happy with the way things are going. This is probably where the difference is made! »

A difference that does not go unnoticed within the family either Red Bull but if no return to the parent stable is on the agenda.

“Helmut (Marko) is really happy with the results and the performances, whether in qualifying or in the races, but at the end of the day it's not my choice, pursued the ex-member of Red Bull Racing. The only thing I can do and that's the only thing I focus on is producing good weekends and trying to take every opportunity that presents itself.

That's the only goal. I have always believed that good performance always leads to opportunities sooner or later. Time will tell if I'm wrong or not, but for now I'm just focusing on my work and trying to give my best! »

Could the range of softer tires offered this weekend by Pirelli be one of these “opportunities” that the Frenchman is calling for?
