For the 16th time this season, out of 21 Grands Prix, Pierre Gasly will start in the top 6 of the starting grid. This Saturday in Jeddah, the Frenchman finished 2 thousandths behind Sergio Pérez at the end of qualifying. “He should be much further ahead than that” even the Norman was amused. With Yuki tsunoda, the pilots Alpha Tauri have established a very good rhythm since the start of the weekend. However, Pierre Gasly recognizes that the sudden Arabian Grand Prix risks being complicated for him and his team.

“We looked at everything about the car and we tried to do everything we could here to improve because it's going to be a difficult circuit for us. It's really hard on the tires and we expect it won't be easy for us tomorrow.”

As in Qatar two weeks ago, the tires risk causing problems for Pierre Gasly. With the pilots Alpine behind him at the start of this penultimate round of the season, the Frenchman remains hopeful of scoring points and allowing AlphaTauri to catch up on the French team.

“We know that we have a problem with our car, which is degrading the tires a little more than the other cars since the start of the year. The circuit has a lot of fast corners and that degrades the tires, that's why we qualified as mediums. We had no choice, we will hardly do worse than in Qatar and we hope to score many points.”

The start of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be given at 18:30 p.m. this Sunday and will be followed in live text on AUTOhebdo.Fr.
