It's unusual in recent months to see theAlpine flanked by the number 43 ahead of her sister with the number 10. Yet, it is indeed Franco Colapinto who is the higher-ranked of the two drivers with the A on the starting grid of the Sprint in Miami. The Argentinian managed to perfect his A526 to be "the best of the rest," in 8th place behind the Mercedes Benz Classic Ferrari for sale McLaren et Max Verstappen.

You have to go back two positions to find any trace of your garage neighbor. Pierre Gasly10th. The Norman suffered with a Alpine which he struggled to understand and which visibly has certain limits compared to that of Franco Colapinto.

"We're in SQ3, but since this morning we've had a problem with the car that we can't figure out." Gasly was furious, speaking to Canal+. “We have no traction, and that’s not necessarily normal, even between the two cars. Since this morning, I haven’t been able to get the throttle going again, and my wheels are spinning much more. We haven’t had time to figure it out, but it’s going to be important to do so for tomorrow, because it’s not driving well, and it’s very different from what I’ve experienced since the beginning of the year. So there are reasons we need to understand.”

His problems could be related to the new rear wing, tested only by the Frenchman due to a lack of time to send a second part to Miami. This could cause some instability in the car by Pierre Gasly.

"I'm a little disappointed with the final result on my end today." he was analyzing his performance calmly. “I think there was much more potential in our package if we’d had a bit more time to address some of the issues we encountered in testing. That’s the nature of Sprint weekends: we only have one session to identify and resolve problems before getting down to business. Nevertheless, the fact that Franco and I both made it into Q3 is positive for the team, and everyone can be pleased. It shows that we’re capable of being competitive on different circuits and confirms that our package is definitely in the fight for points. That’s our objective this weekend. We’ll give it our all to fix those issues and try to climb even higher in the standings.”

Clearly the fifth strongest team on the grid at the start of this weekend in Miami, Alpine can reasonably aim for points with its two drivers. “We naturally wanted to build on our momentum after our good weekend in Japan. Both cars made it to SQ3, which is really positive, especially since other teams have brought significant upgrades to their cars.” Steve Nielsen, the team manager, is delighted. “Today we used the new rear wing on Pierre’s car. We will continue to evaluate and develop it, and today provided us with some interesting points of comparison for some of these new parts. We will continue working to identify areas where we can gain performance to further reduce the gap to the front, but we can be satisfied with today and the competitiveness of our package.” continued the British director, who can hope to see his men score points as early as Saturday's sprint race.
