".

However, the pilot Alpha Tauri had a difficult start to the weekend, beaten by his teammate Daniil Kvyat in qualifying. “I didn't feel good in the car, but I managed to put everything in order in the race, when it really counted, I was able to extract the most from the car. I’m happy to have been able to bring a few more points back to the team.”

His four points also allowed him to finish tenth in the constructors' championship, tied on points with Lance Stroll. “I monitored my place in the championship throughout the race” admits the Frenchman. “It would have bothered me to finish one point behind Lance Stroll like last year. I lost a place on the last lap against Sainz. As I crossed the line I was told that Esteban overtook him on the last lap, it was great. »

10th in the championship is not a panacea. Gasly did better in 2019, with half a season at Red Bull. “Of course, I would like to do much better but when you look at the team's performance, I can be very happy with what they are doing, they have progressed enormously, I never thought I could fight so hard in the top 10 at the start of the year. »

At the same time, AlphaTauri broke all its records this season, the first under its new name. The high point was obviously Pierre Gasly's victory at Monza, second in the history of the Faenza team, after Sebastian Vettel's success in 2008.

Throughout the season, the team had never scored so many points. Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat entered the top 10 in fifteen of the seventeen races on the schedule, scoring a total of 107 points to finish seventh in the constructors' championship, the most in the team's history. In 2019 for comparison, she collected 85 points in 21 races.
