This didn't escape anyone's notice. There Formula 1 is taking a 180°C turn towards America. While its calendar has only had one Grand Prix in Austin for several years, F1 will go to Miami next month, and even to Las Vegas from 2023, the three rounds being set to stay. Liberty Media, the American owner of Formula 1, obviously has nothing to do with it. His wish is of course to make his product even more popular in the United States, in the wake of the Netflix series. Drive to Survive which revived interest in the discipline in the USA. Stefano Domenicali, the president of Formula 1, regularly reiterates his wish to see an American driver start in F1, while specifying that the latter must be “fast”. As a reminder, the last time a representative of the star-spangled banner took part in a Grand Prix was in 2015, with the freelance of Alexander Red chez Marussia. Isn't the last North American driver who succeeded in single-seaters across the Atlantic and then successfully in Formula 1 Jacques Villeneuve? As for a Yankee driver, Scott Speed and Alexander Rossi did not leave lasting memories of their time in F1, just like Michael Andretti almost 20 years ago in 1993
