After the new hard tires at the Spanish GP, Pirelli is preparing to unveil these new super soft tires for the Monaco GP. These tires will be characterized by their red color visible on the sidewalls and by increased grip for a short period, at the expense of endurance. Drivers will also have soft yellow sidewall tires at their disposal.
Paul Hembery, Pirelli's sporting director, is waiting to see how these new tires will perform on this urban track. “ We can't wait to see the super soft tires debut this weekend on the twisty city streets, although this type of circuit will be a completely new experience for us ", says Paul Hembery.
This type of rubber could mainly be used in qualifying, the place on the grid being preponderant in Monaco. “ This tire is designed to offer outstanding performance for a short period of time, but it will be at the expense of endurance. The teams will have to take this into consideration in relation to their strategies. »
