Pirelli awaits better news from Barcelona

Starting tomorrow, the Formula 1 will return to the track on the Barcelona circuit, for the second pre-season testing session. If of course, all eyes will be on the news Williams FW35, we will also have to concentrate on the behavior of the cars on the track. According to Pirelli technical director Paul Hembery, Barcelona will be closer to normal Grand Prix conditions: “Barcelona is a circuit where the teams have a lot of data, which is useful for making comparisons. It will therefore be possible for them to do important and productive work to understand how their cars will react with our latest generation of tires which are softer and faster, but which deliberately wear faster. »

Hembery also returned to the conditions encountered in Jerez, and those he hopes to have in Barcelona: “The limiting factor during the tests in Jerez at the start of the month was the abrasiveness of the track. I hope the conditions will be more representative this time. There is always the possibility of experiencing low temperatures at this time. Last year, we even saw ice on the side of the track.
