Pirelli now has 12km of tests to analyze

Pirelli has had time to prepare its tires for the 2017 season F1. The Team Ferrari, Mercedes F1 and Red Bull Racing were still on track this Tuesday, November 29 to conclude the 2016 tests of the Italian manufacturer which tested 96 components with larger tires adapted to the future regulations of the premier single-seater discipline.

Red Bull worked with its starting drivers Daniel Ricciardo et Max Verstappen on the RB11, Ferrari with Kimi Räikkönen on the SF15-T, while Mercedes F1 replaced Lewis Hamilton by Pascal Wehrlein on the W06 Hybrid after the three-time world champion ended his session saying he was not feeling well. The five drivers completed a total of 331 laps, or 1839km, which represents six times the distance of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“We had five F1 drivers for the final test session of our 2017 prototypes completing the development program at the same time on all three cars, commented Paul Hembery, Pirelli sporting director. Now the hard work begins since we will have to analyze the data from 24 days and around 12km of testing in order to define which tires will be used in the race next year. »

At the end of these 24 days of testing, Pirelli was able to work on five circuits with 11 drivers who completed a total of 2607 laps.
