Pirelli goes red

The Monaco Grand Prix this weekend in the Principality, the sixth meeting of the 2015 championship, will be an opportunity to see in action the new super-soft tire (with red sidewall) from Pirelli, which has a new lineup this season.

« Monaco has often been described as a circuit where overtaking is impossible, but we have seen in the past, how tire strategy and degradation often led to position changes, with overtaking on the track, says Paul Hembery, boss of Pirelli Motorsport. How drivers use the new supersoft tire, which has a clear performance advantage, will be crucial. »

Pirelli expects performance differences of around one second per lap between the two tire specifications on the Monaco track, with the transalpine manufacturer also offering its soft tires (with yellow sidewall). Last year, notably with the intervention of the safety car, Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) made just one pit stop before crossing the finish line as the winner.
