Among several competitors, the phenomenon of blistering (bubbles) appeared during the race at Interlagos in Brazil, without however leading to a drop in performance according to Pirelli.

Pirelli satisfied with the performance of its tires

Pirelli tires held up well in Brazil. The Italian firm had changed your package for Interlagos, following criticism notably from Felipe Massa, who indicated that the resurfacing of the Paulista route would offer a less demanding track for the tires. With 50° reached last Sunday, the Italian envelopes were sometimes affected by the phenomenon of blistering (formation of bubbles which leads certain portions of gum to detach), giving rise to impressive images.

“This phenomenon occurred particularly at the start of the race with the cars loaded with fuel, and the hottest temperatures of the day,
explains Paul Hembery, boss of Pirelli Motorsport. However, this did not affect the performance of the tires. The new track surface created a number of challenges for everyone throughout the weekend. Most drivers opted for a three-stop strategy, which we predicted would be the fastest at Interlagos. However, Kimi Räikkönen only made two stops in one of the most demanding races of the year. »
