Pirelli wary of weather at Chinese GP

Pirelli arrives with confidence at the Chinese GP after observing good performance of its tires on the abrasive track of Sepang (Malaysia). The Italian manufacturer has opted for the soft and medium tires in its range, with the expected temperatures being between 11 and 15°C. If the chance of showers is only 10%, conditions remain very variable in Shanghai.

“Temperatures will naturally be lower than in Malaysia, but Chinese weather is unpredictable ! ", confirms Paul Hembery, Pirelli sporting director. “If last year the weather was reasonably stable throughout the weekend, it was marked by ups and downs during the previous edition. This factor then requires interesting tactical choices... Finally, as the track is wide, there are several overtaking zones, and we can already imagine that a strategy of two stops will be the most effective. »

Lewis Hamilton won the last edition by implementing a two-stop strategy after starting from pole. The pilot Mercedes started with soft tires before switching to mediums on his last two stints.
