Pirelli wants guarantees for 2017

2017 must be synonymous with profound changes regarding technical regulations in F1. Developments are also expected in terms of rubber, which must once again be supplied by the Pirelli firm for the 2017-2019 period.

As reported by Reuters, the contract between F1 and Pirelli has still not been signed, with the Italians wanting certain guarantees for the next season. “Pirelli wanted the objectives that were set to be included in the contract,” said Charlie Whiting, FIA race director. They want more specific articles in the contract regarding testing. They really just want a guarantee on testing.

If we set them goals, they want the tools to achieve them. Those are really the only points. I think everything else is set, but they just want that guarantee of testing. We have written this into the regulations, but they would like a bit of comfort and also the possibility of carrying out tests with their own car... I think it is quite achievable in the short term. »

At the start of the season, Pirelli conducted tests on its rain tires on the Paul-Ricard track in Var. Twelve days are currently authorized by the FIA sporting regulations for tire-specific testing.
