More fear than harm for Hülkenberg

Nico Hulkenberg ended his 2018 season with a spectacular crash at the Abu Dhabi GP. The pilot Renault was fighting in the peloton against Romain Grosjean (Haas) after starting from 10th row when he came into contact with the Frenchman's VF18. The winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 then rolled over and ended up with his car on its roof.

" I'm doing well, wanted to reassure Nico Hülkenberg. It's not the most comfortable situation. I had never done a barrel roll before. I couldn't get out because I was stuck and I had to wait. Fortunately, the commissioners quickly intervened. I'm just a little disappointed because it's disappointing to end like this after all the work you've done. I didn't see Romain inside. so I took the rope at the turn and things got out of hand. »

The stewards considered the contact to be a racing incident and gave no sanction after the accident.

Nico Hülkenberg ends his 2018 season in 7th place with 16 points ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr who will give way next year to Daniel Ricciardo.
