More points, results and consistency… Bottas displays his ambitions for 2023

While his 2022 campaign started perfectly with 7 points finishes for his first 9 Grands Prix with Alfa Romeo, Valtteri Bottas experienced a somewhat complicated sequel. Between the renewed form of the other teams, the lack of development in the second half of the season on his car but also the reliability of the power unit Ferrari, the Finn has only managed two Top 10s in the last 13 races for 3 small additional points.

After a winter break where he notably went to Australia and New Zealand for several weeks, the man with 10 victories is now ready for this 2023 season. This Tuesday, on the occasion of the presentation of the C43 of Alfa Romeo, the former pilot Mercedes took the time to talk about this new year of competition. As Sauber prepares to experience its last dance with the Italian manufacturer, the native of Nastola wants the team to get back on track after a last lackluster campaign.

« We need to do more, it's as simple as that, he warns. We must always try to do better, to aim higher, the whole team, myself included. We must continue to improve, that's what motivates us. We must therefore hope... for better consistency, more points, better results, but getting there is the most delicate part. This is done with every detail and we have to work hard as a team to do it."

Now leader at Alfa Romeo after a few years as second-in-command Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas is aware that he is taking on a completely new role. “ I have a little more involvement, more information comes through me, he points. The work between us started last year. I tried to bring all my experience and technical knowledge from the past, and this continued throughout the season. » The Finn has all the cards in hand to demonstrate that he really has the shoulders to carry his team and create a new lease of life before Alfa Romeo and Sauber take different directions.
